In modern industrial design, thermal management challenges have intensified. The demand for compact, highly efficient insulation has positioned Microporous Panel 10mm technology as a vital option. These materials operate at the nanoscale, restricting heat transfer mechanisms in ways traditional materials like ceramic fibers or rock wool cannot match. 10mm microporous panels leverage the Knudsen effect to deliver thermal conductivity ratings lower than still air, even at extreme operating temperatures exceeding 1000°C.
Traditional insulation blocks heat by trapping air inside relatively large pockets. However, gas convection and gas conduction still occur inside these pockets. Microporous insulation uses an engineered silica structure where the average pore size is approximately 20 nanometers. This is smaller than the mean free path of an air molecule (which is roughly 68 nanometers at standard atmospheric pressure). Consequently, air molecules are physically restricted from colliding with one another, effectively eliminating gas phase heat transfer. Infra-red radiation is further suppressed through the integration of specialty opacifiers that scatter and reflect heat waves back to the source.

At a mean temperature of 200°C, the thermal conductivity (λ-value) of our fumed silica microporous panel is approximately 0.020 W/(m·K). Even under extreme heat exposures of 800°C, the thermal conductivity remains around 0.038 W/(m·K). This represents a significant performance improvement compared to traditional ceramic fiber insulation or mineral wool materials.
Generally, dry-pressed microporous core panels wrapped in protective cloth are not recommended for direct cutting or drilling on site, as this can breach the outer barrier and release dust. For complex geometries, we design and press custom 3D layouts, round disks, or pre-engineered shapes at our factory according to customer drawings.
Our standard high-temperature nano microporous formulations support a maximum classification temperature of 1050°C. For continuous operation, we recommend keeping exposure levels within 950°C to 1000°C. This maintains long-term structural integrity and prevents core shrinkage.
While both utilize a fumed silica base, VIPs are sealed inside a high-barrier envelope and core-evacuated of air (reaching thermal conductivities below 0.004 W/m·K). Microporous boards operate at normal atmospheric pressures, depending on the nanoscale structure to suppress gas conduction. They are designed for high-temperature furnace lining, whereas VIPs are optimized for cold chain and building facades.
To protect the core material against mechanical wear and moisture, we offer enclosing wraps such as E-glass woven fiber fabrics, heat-sealable polymer barrier films (PET/Alu), high-temperature stainless steel foil coverings, or adhesive-backed sheets to facilitate installation.
