What is the core difference between Fumed Silica VIPs and standard insulation materials? +
Fumed silica Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) achieve an exceptionally low thermal conductivity (often ≤ 0.0045 W/mK) by evacuating air from the core material. This is up to ten times more effective than conventional insulation materials like polyurethane foam or EPS. This allows systems to achieve comparable thermal resistance with thin, low-volume profiles.
Can Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) be cut or altered during installation? +
No. Because VIPs rely on an internal vacuum state protected by a high-barrier envelope, they cannot be cut, drilled, or altered on-site. Any puncture will release the vacuum and compromise the high-efficiency insulation properties.
