To understand the performance advantage of Zerothermo's Nano Microporous Panels, one must look at the nanoscale thermal dynamics. Traditional thermal insulation functions by trapping air within pore structures. However, gas convection and molecular collisions within these pores still transfer substantial heat. Our microporous panels utilize Fumed Silica (SiO2) nanoparticles aggregated to form pore sizes between 10 to 50 nanometers. This structural design operates on two fundamental physical phenomena:
The mean free path of an air molecule at standard pressure is approximately 68nm. By engineering internal pores with diameters smaller than 50nm, air molecules are physically restricted from colliding with one another. Consequently, gaseous thermal conduction is almost entirely eliminated.
At temperatures above 500°C, radiative heat transfer dominates. Our panels integrate high-efficiency opacifiers (such as Silicon Carbide or Zirconium Silicate) within the silica matrix to scatter, reflect, and absorb infrared radiation, minimizing radiative heat flux.
The solid contact points within the amorphous network of fumed silica are extremely sparse and thin. The heat path is highly tortuous, resulting in near-zero solid phase conduction through the core structural grid of the panel.
