Rising energy costs, combined with gas pressure fluctuations and domestic power grid upgrades, have forced Bangladeshi plant managers to prioritize heat retention and thermal insulation performance like never before.
Traditionally, heavy industries rely on mineral wool, silicate boards, and ceramic fibers. However, these materials occupy significant structural volumes and fail to deliver the thermal barrier capabilities required by modern thermodynamic plants. To meet the national energy efficiency targets and secure global green factory certifications (such as LEED in the RMG sectors), the adoption of Nano Microporous Panels is becoming the new standard.
Our nano-microporous panels utilize fumed silica particles compressed into an ultra-low density structure, creating pore sizes of approximately 20 nanometers—well below the mean free path of air molecules (70nm). This configuration virtually eliminates gas-convection heat transfer and minimizes conduction, offering thermal conductivity ratings lower than still air (less than 0.020 W/m·K at 600°C).
Science & Engineering
Standard insulation materials work by trapping pockets of air within their fibrous structure. However, air molecules inside these macroscopic spaces are still free to collide and transfer kinetic energy (convective heat transfer).
By utilizing fumed silica with an average pore size of 20nm, our panels physically restrict the movement of air molecules. Since the distance between pores is smaller than the mean free path of the gas, molecules collide with the pore walls instead of other molecules. This microstructural confinement eliminates gas convection entirely.
At temperatures exceeding 500°C, radiative heat transfer (infrared transmission) becomes the primary source of thermal loss. To prevent infrared radiation from penetrating the core, opacifiers (such as titanium dioxide or silicon carbide) are mixed into the fumed silica core.
This compound reflects and absorbs infrared waves, maintaining low thermal conductivity even at furnace operating temperatures up to 1000°C. For industrial plants in Dhaka and Chittagong, this means thinner insulation blankets, increased inner furnace volumes, and lower shell exterior temperatures, ensuring operator safety and equipment longevity.
