Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) represent a quantum leap in material science. By evacuating the internal atmospheric gases from a microporous core material (such as fumed silica or fiberglass) and sealing it inside an impermeable barrier envelope, thermal conductivity ($\lambda$) is reduced to less than 0.004 W/m·K. This is roughly five to ten times more efficient than traditional insulation.
