1. Can vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) be cut or drilled on-site during installation?
No, VIPs cannot be cut, drilled, or shaped on-site. The high insulation performance relies on an internal vacuum core. Puncturing the outer multi-layer barrier film allows air to enter, raising the thermal conductivity from ≤ 0.004 W/m·K to roughly 0.020 W/m·K. All dimensional cuts, socket openings, and corner shapes must be pre-planned and custom-fabricated at our factory prior to processing.
2. How do you prevent thermal bridging at joints between adjacent wall insulation boards?
To address thermal bridging, installers can use double-layer staggered joint configurations, or fill joints with specialized aerogel sealing strips or polyurethane gaps. We also manufacture VIPs with rebated or stepped edges to create tight interlocking joints.
3. What is the expected service life of fumed silica core insulation panels in walls?
Under typical building conditions, our fumed silica core VIPs are designed for a service life exceeding 50 years. Fumed silica core material is highly resistant to aging. Under normal conditions, vacuum pressure degrades slowly (less than 1 mbar per year), keeping the board's insulation performance high over the lifecycle of the building.
4. What fire safety ratings do your internal wall insulation boards carry?
Our high-temperature nano-microporous panels and fumed silica vacuum insulation panels are non-combustible. Under EN 13501-1 testing, the core material achieves a Class A rating. This makes them suitable for fire-prone high-rise buildings, elevator doors, and public facilities.
5. How does Zerothermo technology ensure vacuum stability over long periods?
We use multi-layer high-barrier film laminate structures that include ultra-thin aluminum foil or metalized PET layers. We also incorporate active gettering agents within the fumed silica core matrix to capture trace moisture and gas molecules that may migrate through the envelope over time.
