Premium glass solutions and insulation panels designed to meet the rigorous thermal envelope directives of modern European projects.
Exploring the legal directives and market forces driving thermal performance improvements in Eastern Europe.
Romania is undergoing a rapid industrial and architectural transformation. Under the European Green Deal and the strict nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Buildings) guidelines, urban projects in cities like Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timișoara are forced to rethink traditional glass installation systems. Standard double glazing, and even thick triple-glazed units, are struggling to meet the stringent U-value targets without adding excessive weight to facade framing systems. This is where Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) enters as a revolutionary material science breakthrough.
Integrating a vacuum gap—where convective and conductive heat transfer is completely eliminated—allows developers to achieve center-of-glass U-values below 0.5 W/(m²K), matching the performance of a thick insulated wall within the profile of a single slim glass sheet. For historic renovations in cities like Brașov or Sibiu, VIG offers a unique preservation benefit: it maintains the original narrow profile of historical wooden frames while dramatically upgrading the building’s thermal performance to meet current environmental goals.
Meets the legal maximum energy consumption standards for new EU construction.
Eliminates the structural load and thick profiles required by triple glazing.
The vacuum layer blocks sound waves, creating quiet spaces in dense urban hubs.
Inside the physics and manufacturing processes that define next-generation thermal barriers.
Our Vacuum Insulated Glass features two panes of tempered safety glass separated by a micro-spacer grid (support pillars) and sealed hermetically along the perimeter. The space between the panes is evacuated to a high vacuum pressure level (less than 10⁻⁴ Pa), virtually stopping structural conduction. This physical vacuum eliminates energy transmission via air molecules, rendering the system significantly more efficient than standard argon-filled units.
| Glass Configuration Type | Standard Thickness | U-Value (W/m²K) | Acoustic Performance (Rw) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Clear Float Glass | 6 mm | 5.8 W/m²K | ~30 dB |
| Standard Double Glazing (Argon) | 24 mm | 1.2 - 1.6 W/m²K | ~34 dB |
| Triple Glazing (Argon, Low-E) | 36 - 44 mm | 0.7 - 0.9 W/m²K | ~38 dB |
| Zerothermo Tempered VIG | 8.3 mm | 0.4 - 0.6 W/m²K | >41 dB |
Our VIG units incorporate advanced tempered safety structures, satisfying standard mechanical impact requirements for wind loads and overhead glazed surfaces. A flexible metal solder edge sealing system protects the vacuum layer from atmospheric degradation, offering a lifespan that easily exceeds 25 years under extreme weather variations.
